| Description | Surprise visitor to the bird bath. The flan case has been in the garden since I bought the house, and I keep it topped up with water, occasionally turfing out the magnolia leaves and petals. I came out the back looking to maybe shoot some spiders or insects and this fellow had his chin resting on the side of the flan case. I nipped back in for the camera and was able to get right up to him without disturbing him. After a few minutes he stirred enough to drink, and I popped out to "borrow" some cat or dog food from a neighbour. I put a saucer of meat out, and left him to it. When next I looked he had moved on. Hopefully he will be back to finish off the food before I have to chase off a cat. The male of the collared dove pair nesting in the palm tree has lost his tail and has been wandering round looking forlorn all day, so I do not want to encourage the little furry psychopaths. At least one of whom ignores my audible motion triggered cat scarer. |
